sense in Catrakilis move to the Kings? ...I can only assume they've offered him a lot more money but what happens a year down the track when the Kings are demoted?

Denny, Yes, From his career perspective for next year it makes perfect sense. He want's Gametime at superrugby level. Stormers have both Grant and Janties for next year, plus in the past Coetzee has opted for both van Aswegen, Francis and coleman before Catrakilis. Therefore he is not guarenteed a Strat and would most likely be playing vodacom cup rugby.

A move to the Kings gives him the opportunity to start and get gametime in a top rated Competition.

I hear you Ek, but it also begs the questions why WP  signed Jantjies? Surely his signing was unnecessary as they already had so many to choose from.

I think Cat has made a mistake, IMO. My guess is that he would have and could have shifted both pop-gun and Earl Jantjies down the order. Guess we will never know now.

Well some logic deduced from the actions of the WP management etc. would indicate to the following:

1. AC rates Jantjies very highly.

2. AC rated Catrakilis not as high as others on the province payroll.

3. All the others are injured and there has been a Flyhalf crisis in the past.

4. Catrakilis wants to start at the top level.

Backup is always necesery, plus from the signing you can obviously deduce that Jantjies will start with Grant as backup and the others as injured anyway so not up for Debate. So no the signing is only unnecessary if you think that Catrakilis was bound to stay. But he is not, he want's to start, and even without the signing he would be behind Grant.

With all the injuries at 10 Coetzee clearly is covering his bases.

Highly unlikely. Face it Cat had a good game and a good season, but he has inherent limitations. Some guys say he can work on that extra bit of pace, I don't really agree. He has vision and a trained foot, that is about it, a slower Morne steyn without the reach.

Ek, off topic, I know you're a cricket buff, how do you rate the Proteas chances? Also on the bye, I won't be here to watch their progress as I'll be away on holidays in non cricket countries....damn!! Looks like it's going to be a very interesting series with Oz more dependent on their attack, fully aware that their batting lineup is untested.

My appologies to the others for going off topic...

Denny, I really am in a bit af a blur on the Ausie side at the moment, It's like they blow hot and cold. I do think we will be competitive, and we stand a good chance to take the series, However, as I said this Ausie side is kind of an unknown to me. So I really don't know what to expect apart form good cricket off course :)
