ALL BLACKS have sold its soul
October 12, 2012, 08:20:29

HAVE a look at the new AB jersey complete BS!!!! AIG have taken over BOKs sorry you wont be playing the AB any more is a AIG team from some place, wont be the All Blacks. NZRU have sold our tradition, our culture or for the sake of a few xtra bucks. NZ mana is sold. BOKs feel free to smash this joke of a jersey its got no soul, no spirit. What would Meads feel about this F###ing joke. How can a AB player look at it and say...mmm yea looks great nothing like the jersey i hoped or dreamed about but it will do. How any men bleed put there bodys on the line for the Black jersey thats what we are ALL BLACKS, ive got the same vibe of this as that BS grey jersey of 07, we all know how well that worked. Dont be surprised if AB run is dramaticly OVER !!!! F####K

papamoa

It is in a way sad that rugby has come to the stage where money rules the roost - but that is what is inevitably the result of professional sport.   I think it would not be acceptable by purists like yourself - but am afraid it is a fait accompli.

Yeah once I may of agreed but it's only a logo a third of the size it could of been.  At the end of the day do you want the ITM (runs at a loss) cup etc.... to stay etc..... Money doesn't grow on trees and we don't have the Stadiums or population base to sustain All Black rugby near the top without it. The Jersey is still Black.  People will get over it we are in the professional era.  No new All Black is going to think any less about the jersey or the legacy etc....  This is a coo for the NZRU I believe we have the 2 biggest sponsorship deals in Rugby.  Was the same drama when Adidas came on board.  Without these deals we would lose our All Blacks overseas, eventually the ITM cup would dissappear etc.....  We would become a 2nd teir nation.  They are still called the All Blacks and this will keep us on target to compete in the professional era.

AIG does look a bit like an out of place smudge on the jersey but it wont affect the performance or game plan at all so why bother about it. Its only a sponsor. Thank god its not splashed right across the chest in massive bold letters like the boks SASOL which I believe is a fuel company like shell or something like that.

The spiritual side of the haka could be selling your soul?

The difference between sleeve and front of the jersey is probably many millions.  It is a 3rd of the size that is allowed by the IRB guidelines.

All Black NZ

Just for your info - SASOL is the biggest producer of fuel from coal in the world and they control a number of fuel producing and related companies worldwide.   Yes - I believe they have ties with Shell as well.

SASOL is a major sponsor of SA Rugby.   However, their logo on the Springbok jersey has not really stirred controversy here.

In the case of the jersey controvercy now discussed I am afraif that times have caught up with the All Blacks in this case and it will not be changed in future - unless the sponsorship change.   That is inevitably the result of professionalism in sport - even though purists may not like it.

Mike I dont think we should complain or the abs fo rtha tmatter. Anything that gets in the money and staves off players going to the NH is something to be thankful for.

lm all right..im o.k, ive calmed down. Just a bit of shock when i first saw it. More money is a great thing for NZ rugby, And if the players can deal with it i certainly can. I as with the rest of NZ just have to get use to it. But the NZ jersey is a unique jersey and should be treated as one by NZRU and take some serious thinking about before making any change. Sure other countrys might not give a crap about theres ..pink fluro ..hey what ever but I can tell you majority of All Black fans are purests when it comes to our Jersey and DONT LIKE CHANGE.

Yeah papamoa. I was also shocked to see the New Jersey. Oh we'll, " times, they are a changing". As others have rightly mentioned, the additional cash can only be a good thing which should help NZ retain some of our promising young players who may be tempted offshore with lucrative, short term contracts.

If the players get better resources and a pay rise thats great. They might earn what they deserve for a change. Better financial backing has to be a good thing....right.  We might even see some new ads on t.v like those old Steinlarger ads. Just dont F###k with the color

Have to see, what i cant see is NZRU paying as much as some overseas pay packets even with help of AIG most will go in top level pockets im afraid. Thats business. NZRU has survived for over 100 years with one major sponsor but hey well see what happens.

I know mate, they can get some seriously good money and it's not even the top tier I'm talking about even at club level I used to hear of esp decent props and locks getting signed. Its more the top club and provincial level i think some funds should go, keep these guys around long enough to get a sniff of the black jersey when other motivations will start to take over.

Right Bobbok we have had to struggle to keep the Bok emblem. One wonder though if the jersey will ultimatley look like a christmas tree!

If the All Blacks are happy to be associated with a company who has a past riddled with one liquidity crisis and federal bail-out after the other and litigation concerning fraud, etc, then so be it.
