Taute set to join the MIGHTY STORMERS

eX Supersport

It looks like Jaco Taute has made up his mind in his deliberation over where to play his Super Rugby next year, with the Stormers set to beat off the interests of the Sharks and the Bulls in the new Springbok.

The Cape Times quoted Taute’s agent Eduard Kelder on Thursday as saying that Cape Town was where the 21-year-old would head at the end of this season as he looks to further his education in big rugby after showing great promise for the Lions, who have been relegated from Super Rugby.

Jaco has decided that WP is the place to that he really wants to go to. We are just busy negotiating to come to the desirable terms, which we are very close to coming to,” said Kelder.

Taute can play fullback or centre, with the latter position being where he made his debut for the Boks against Australia at Loftus two weeks ago.

However he is likely to be considered mostly as a fullback by the Stormers. (ABSOLUTELY!!!!)

The youngster should be the fourth player currently with the Lions who will be playing for the Stormers next year. Flyhalf Elton Jantjies, also a new Springbok, is set to sign a loan agreement similar to Taute’s, which should mean the players link up with the Lions again after Super Rugby.

It’s a different story with Bok prop Pat Cilliers and the Lions’ former Sharks loose-forward Michael Rhodes, both of whom have signed two year contracts with the Cape union

This is tremendous news for us. Elton just sign up and lets get in that extra class hooker!!!!!

Beeno

I am delighted by this news - Taute would get decent defensive coaching there and he can in Super Rugby replace the useless one.   I hope Jantjies is not bound for CT - you really don't need them there.   Would soon enough found out why - if he moves there.   Let him go to the Queens.

PS - Taute - the Cape giirls will go ballistic - LOL

Mike I am delighted with our signings. Look who else at flyhalf could we sign who is better than Jantjes. You have to bear in mind the words of Butch and Mitchell who both have stated they think Jantjes can play test rugby. Well surely he can at least, together with Grant, do a job for us next year. He will be performing behind what looks likely to be the best pack in the Super 15 - barring injuries etc.

I posted under my Coetzee post re the Boks playing for WP needing a break -  a possible Stormers squad. Please take a look and let me know what you think of it. To me it looks a pretty powerful squad. Oh that we had not lost Quinn Roux and Deon Fourie!

Butch James, the high tackling vuilgat.

Mitchell, the useless AB coach who could not get the Lions off the bottom of the S15 log.

Geez bongani your comments are just the purest of pure class ; ).

Beeno1 Taute is a brilliant signing, but we all know they are jsut the Stormers and not the Mighty Stormers.

Bokbe  go and look at the squad I posted. Bear in mind Bokbe the younsters like Kitshoff, Malherbe, Etzebeth, Koster, Kolisi, Carr, Du Pessis, Howard, Grooom Schreuder, Taute and Van Derheever will be better next year.

Also we will hopefully have Burger and Vermulen fit for the whole season. With a reasonable run o fgood fortune this could b ethe year. The attacking prowress should also be better and a better balance achieved re defence and attack.

To my mind this is the best Stormers squad I have seen. Anyone think otherwise?

Does Taute plan to score tries, or just be apart of the Nienaaber system of defence

I agree Beeno the Stormer must have one of the best squads for next season. They should not have any excuses for failing if they make the play offs.

Obviously Taute's career is on the slippery slope if he's resorted to sign for the Stormers.

Shame for such a young bloke!
