Dave, a question....
September 30, 2012, 05:29:39

for months now you've been telling this forum that Habana is "done" and that he should be dropped from the side. After yesterday's game do you still believe he is past it?

A simple yes or no will be appreciated.

Habana is a class act - no one can deny that.  Moving from 11 to 14 is never just a simple move, he did that with ease.  He creates more tries than those he scores.  being the record holder of tries - yesterday ousting Bryten - puts him up there that is for sure.  The only little negative s his looking to intercept at times leaves a hole in the defense.  He looks for work, he finds gaps and creates moves - He is a CLASS act.

Habana played exceptionally well, its good to see him score a hat- trick. I think hes doing quite well at defence too, im pleased that hes not attemping to do the interceptions cause it really does put his team in danger if he fails to make the intercept. Hes simply the best winger in the world no doubt, i've seen him do some work in the mauls and getting possession in the rucks at times. just amazing work period.

What Habana does that no other winger or player for that fact is that he backs up really well and if you see him when there is opportunity heis like a'thief in the night' and pounces and 9 out of 10 he usually scores points or sets up scoring opportunities or takes away the advantage that the opposing teams had.

He is in wonderful form and it is a delight to see him run and enjoy himself. It is amazing that SA have the best winger in the world and he has been able to prove himself in such a static backline for many years.

Habana for IRB player of the year - Im sorry Richie MaCaw you wont have a chance this year!

Denny

Saffex has disappeared completely - hope he comes back and enlighten us ordinary mortals about some things though.    I would say he has some really difficult explanations to make and would like to list them briefly:-

*    Habana is past it - he should be dropped and replaced my Mvovo

*    De Villiers brings nothing to the game and is jeopardising back line play - he should be replaced by Taute

*    Pienar is a flop at scrummie

*    Louw is a useless loosie and he msut be replaced by Brussow

*    Nonu is past it

A bit too much egg in the face - is that the reason for his absence from the Board?   I am going to check the Supersport Board to see whether he showed up there.

Jalap

Dave's board name is Saffex.   He is a very nice guy I met once in London - really like him, but I also like to apply the needle from time to time and see his reponses.   Lets be patient - he may provide some really enjoyable comments tomorrow.  At this stage he is working out what to say.

Just in case you've missed the question I thought I'll bring it to your attention once more.

NO Denise - for the record I dont spend my life surfing the net

Habana was class and while he has been poor earlier in the season, he has rediscovered his form and good on him. A worthy starter. He, Jannie and Bekker are the only old boys worth retaining

i wouldnt say that nonu was past it, but his performnce in 2012 has been kak, and given the metoric rise of SBW, it only firther compounded those arguments.
but nonu showed against the pumas that hes far from past it, but I MO that was a combination of playing a team team of lesser quality (no offence pumas) and the fact that he was reunited with carter on his inside which has been the worlds best inside combination for the past 3 years.

hes a veteran but has plenty to offer, though i do expect him and a few others to be phased out before 2015 when the All blacks win the 2015 RWC, :P
